GOVERNMENT
Wisconsin Place Recreation Center
Chevy Chase, MD
SITUATION:
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC) is a bi-county agency that was empowered by the State of Maryland in 1927 to acquire, develop, maintain and administer a regional system of parks in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. The Commission coordinates and acts on matters of interest to both counties, including the development and renovation of each county’s new and existing recreation centers. Since Heartline has installed all 22 fitness centers for Montgomery County’s existing community centers, it was natural progression for MNCPPC to maintain this product and service consistency for the new Wisconsin Place Recreation Center. Since Heartline has an annual product and service contract in place with Montgomery County’s Parks and Recreation Department, MNCPPC was able to award this contract to Heartline.
SOLUTION:
As in the case of the South Bowie Recreation Center, Heartline used a similar layout for Wisconsin Place’s fitness center. Unfortunately, the space was not quite as large as South Bowie’s, and thus we had to pare back Wisconsin Place’s free weight area. The result was a fitness center boasting ten (10) Star Trac treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and steppers, and a twelve (12) piece Paramount selectorized strength circuit, including a Paramount Functional Trainer. Complementing the cardio and strength area, is a small dumbbell training space.
