SITUATION:
Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church (GMCHC) was established in 1966 by Bishop Alfred A. Owens, Jr. Since that time, Pastors Alfred and Susie Owens have built a congregation of some 8,000 members. Not only is GMCHC’s goal to create a wonderful place for spiritual worship, but also to create strong community bonds through connected community activities and education. GMCHC’s Family Life Fitness Center serves as their connecting community component, encouraging community participation and promoting a healthy lifestyle. When it was time to undergo a fitness center makeover in 2008, GMCHC chose Heartline Fitness to manage the project.
SOLUTION:
Together with long-time Heartline client and chief fitness guru at GMCHC, Ricky Tripplet, Heartline focused on upgrading GMCHC’s cardiovascular area, as well as a total overhaul of GMHCH’s strength area. Heartline replaced the center’s old multi-gym with a nine-piece Paramount dual station strength training circuit. Additionally, Heartline added a number of free weight machines, including a Paramount Smith machine, and a full complement of York rubber hex dumbbells, 5 pounds through 100 pounds in increments of 5 pounds. The result has exceeded expectations as the newly renovated fitness center continues to meet GMCHC’s growing congregation and community needs.
