Scott Elliff, Board Member, Board Member since 2003

Scott Elliff is a retired business consulting executive who is now involved in a range of non-profit community service activities in the Charlottesville, Virginia area. He currently serves on the Boards of the Forest Lakes Community Association, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, the Piedmont Environmental Council, the Charlottesville Area Tennis Association, and several private companies in which he has equity interests. He was founder and president of Capital Consulting & Management, Inc. (CCMI), which for over a decade helped Fortune 500 companies, mid-size firms, start-up ventures, and other organizations improve their operational performance. He spoke frequently at conferences and professional meetings, published a range of white papers commissioned by Federal Express, wrote a feature column for the Journal of Commerce and other magazines, produced a series of training programs for corporate audiences, and was quoted periodically in the trade press. Prior to founding CCMI he was a principal and partner in several other firms. He began his career in the Office of Management and Budget in the Executive Office of the President, where he worked on federal budget, management and regulatory issues during two administrations. He is the owner and operator of DuCard Vineyards in Madison County, Virginia, which includes a line of boutique wines with limited distribution. The vineyard is also used to provide education and training in winegrowing, through a season-long course he teaches for the Piedmont Virginia Community College viticulture program. His periodic “Notes from the Vineyard” appears in Piedmont Virginian magazine. Scott graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in mathematics and social science, and received his Masters from the University of Michigan, where he was first in his class in economics and public policy.
